Optimization of Cu-Sn-Ti filler metal composition and brazing joint properties using response surface methodology
摘要
Abstract
To address the poor wear resistance
inadequate wettability
and weak retention of diamond grains in CuSnTi filler metal
this study employed the Box-Behnken Design (BBD) response surface methodology to optimize the composition of CuSnTi filler modified with Ni
In
Fe
and Si. The contents of these four elements were set as influencing factors
while the wetted area and wear loss of the filler served as response variables. Highly significant second-order regression models were established to correlate composition with target performance
showing good fitting and predictive ability. Analysis of elemental interactions revealed that low Ni is a prerequisite for achieving the dual objectives
high In enhances wettability
and high Fe combined with medium Si produces a synergistic effect. A multi-objective genetic algorithm was used for global optimization
resulting in the optimal composition of Ni 1.23 wt.%
In 2.87 wt.%
Fe 4.85 wt.%
and Si 0.58 wt.%. Verification experiments showed a wetted area of 100.86 mm

and wear loss of 5.05 mg with good repeatability. Compared with CuSnTi filler
the modified filler exhibited a 20 °C lower melting temperature
16.23% increased wetted area
37.5% higher microhardness
and 49.5% reduced wear. Diamond wheels brazed with the modified filler achieved a 91.4% increase in material removal of Al

ceramics
more stable frictio
n coefficients
and significantly enhanced grain retention
effectively improving grinding efficiency and service life of diamond tools.
